E-commerce accounting,
from the first entry to the tax return
A free, self-paced course for founders running an online store in the UAE. It assumes no accounting background, and ends with you able to close a month and fill in a tax return knowing why each figure is where it is.
Who this is for
A founder or manager of a growing store on Shopify, WooCommerce, Amazon or Instagram, in the first year or two, who wants to keep their own books — or to understand what their accountant is doing well enough to review it rather than sign it blind.
The course is also published in Arabic, module for module and figure for figure. The workbook and the printable syllabus are in Arabic only.
The ten modules
Each module runs the same way: a short concept, then a model you move yourself and watch the numbers respond, then a worked example, exercises, a mini-project on a real store, a multiple-choice test that tells you why an answer is wrong, and a standard you have to meet before moving on.
Three ways through it
You do not have to take all ten modules. Pick the track that matches what you actually need.
Fast — read your numbers
A founder who has an accountant and wants to understand the numbers well enough to ask the right questions.
Core — keep your own books
A founder who wants to keep the books themselves, all the way through a monthly close.
Full — ready for compliance and growth
Anyone who needs books, tax compliance, pricing decisions and a view of cash.
What comes with it
One store, all the way through
The whole course runs on a single worked case: Nuwa Trading LLC, an Abu Dhabi company importing coffee brewing equipment and selling through its own store, Amazon.ae and cash on delivery. The same figures recur, so what you learn in module 2 is used in module 5 and audited in module 9. See the case study.
Models you drive
Ten interactive models, one per module. Move a slider and the statements, the ledger or the tax position move with it — the point being to see the mechanism, not to memorise a rule.
Course syllabus
Outcomes, the module map, hours and the standard required to pass each module.
XLSXStudent workbook
Blank templates and the case data: chart of accounts, journal, ledger, trial balance, statements, inventory, VAT register, pricing and cash flow. In Arabic.
The tax material in modules 8 and 9 is written for teaching, based on the rules in force in the United Arab Emirates as at September 2026. It is not tax advice. Thresholds and deadlines change — check the Federal Tax Authority at tax.gov.ae before acting on any compliance decision.
